Monthly Maine Catholic BWC Ministry Statewide Zoom Meeting

Join us for a town hall discussion with Jason Steidl Jack, author of LGBTQ Catholic Ministry

Our October 20th meeting will feature guest speaker Dr Jason Steidl Jack speaking on “LGBTQ History in the Catholic Church and Why it Matters.”  Dr Steidl Jack identifies as a gay Catholic theologian. He holds a PhD in systematic theology from Fordham University and is currently employed as an assistant teaching professor of religious studies at St Joseph's College in New York. He has for many years been active in the Out at St Paul's ministry at St Paul the Apostle Church in Manhattan and serves on the board of directors for Fortunate Families. His (first) book LGBTQ Catholic Ministry Past and Present (2023) takes an in depth and analytical look at LGBTQ Catholic movements and moments from George Hyde and DignityUSA in the late 1940s to Cardinal Ratzinger's infamous 1986 “halloween letter” to the ministry of Fr James Martin (who, while addressed at times critically in the book, still wrote the glowing forward to the book).

Please be with us to welcome and learn from Dr Steidl Jack, and perhaps too to share with him in the big city some of our stories, our progress, and our struggles with LGBTQ Catholic ministry in Maine.

Please join us by zoom for our monthly meeting- to get zoom link, contact us at becomingawelcomingcommunity@gmail.com. All are Welcome!
